What we believe

There is one holy and sovereign God. (Ex. 15:11, 18; 18:11; Lev. 19:2; Dt. 6:4; 10:14; 32:39; Pss. 18:30; 24:1; 50:10-12; 60:6; 83:18; Is. 6:3; 42:8; 43:15; 44:6; 57:15; Mk. 12:29; Ac. 17:24-26; Rom. 14:11; 1 Cor. 8:6; Eph. 4:6; 1 Jn. 1:5; Rev. 4:8, 11)

Jesus Christ, God’s son, is Lord. He was both human and divine. He was crucified, dead and buried. He was raised from the dead. In Jesus we find forgiveness for our sins and the promise of eternal life. (Is. 53:12; Mt. 26:63-67; Lk. 22:19-20; Jn. 1:10, 14, 29; 3:16-17; 10:11, 17-18, 30, 38; 12:45; 14:7-10; 17:10; Ac. 26:23; Rom. 4:25; 5:6-11; 1 Cor. 15:3; Gal. 1:4; 4:4-5; Eph. 1:7; Phil. 2:8, 10-11; Col. 1:14; Heb. 1:3, 8, 10-12; 10:10; 1 Pt. 1:18-19; Rev. 1:5, 17)

The Holy Spirit is God’s presence in our world and in our lives. He convicts us, guides us, encourages us and empowers us. (Gen. 1:2; Neh. 9:20; Ps. 139:7; Ez. 36:27; Joel 2:28-29; Mt. 10:20; Lk. 12:12; Jn. 3:5; 14:16-17, 26; 15:26; 16:8-13; Rom. 8:9-15, 26-27; 1 Cor. 2:12-13; 3:16; 12:3-11; Gal. 4:6; 2 Thes. 2:13; 1 Pt. 1:2; 1 Jn. 3:24)

The Bible is the inspired word of God and our guide for Christian living. It establishes the parameters of our faith. It is true and trustworthy. (Dt. 31:11-13; 2 Kgs. 22:9-13; Jn. 5:39; Rom. 1:2; 1 Cor. 15:3; Eph. 6:17; 2 Tim. 2:15; 3:15-16)

We become members of the Christian family by accepting God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. (Jn. 3:5, 15-18; 5:24; 6:47; 11:25-26; 14:6; Ac. 2:38; 3:19; 4:12; Rom. 10:9, 13; Gal. 3:26; Eph. 2:8-9; 2 Tim. 1:9)

The purpose of the church is to be the body of Christ. We are called to gather for worship, service, spiritual growth, evangelism, accountability, support and fellowship. The church is sent into the world to be presence of Christ. (Mal. 3:16; Mt. 4:10; 18:15-17; 20:26-28; 25:35-45; 28:19-20; Mk. 16:15; Lk. 24:53; Jn. 10:16; 17:11-21; 20:21; Ac. 1:8; 2:42-47; Rom. 12:4-5; 15:25-27; 1 Cor. 1:10; 12:27; 2 Cor. 8:1-4; Gal. 6:2, 10; Eph. 2:20-22; 5:19; Phil. 1:27; Col. 3:16; 1 Thes. 5:11; Heb. 10:24-25; Jas. 5:16; 1 Pt. 2:5; 3:8-9; 1 Jn. 1:3)

All Christians are called to live holy, Christ-like lives. We are to love as we have been loved, without prejudice or bias. (Gen. 17:1; Lev. 19:2; Mt. 5:48; 12:50; Lk. 14:27; Jn. 13:34; 15:5-6, 12-13; Ac. 10:28, 34-35; Rom. 6:4; 1 Cor. 6:20; 2 Cor. 5:17; Gal. 5:22-25; Eph. 2:10; 4:13; 5:2; Phil. 2:5; Heb. 5:9; 1 Pt. 1:15-16; 2:21; 4:1; 1 Jn. 3:17)
